MIAK Gyumri Office Gets More Active
MIAK Gyumri territorial subdivision office has become more active. During the summer period a number of meetings and events were organized, where MIAK Gyumri members came up with interesting initiatives.

On August 4, in Gyumri there took place a meeting with MIAK Secretary General Ara Hovsepyan, MIAK Yerevan territorial subdivision Executive Board Chairman Sergey Vardanyan. A number of issues were raised during the meeting and the comparison was drawn between the activities of Yerevan, Gyumri and Spitak offices, as a result of which the solutions were given to the issues of concern.

On August 15, Gyumri territorial subdivision hosted MIAK External and Public Affairs Secretary Naira Karapetyan. During the conversation she gave useful advices on how to strengthen the link between the Gyumri territorial subdivision and the headquarters. Naira Karapetyan learned about young people’s initiatives and was present during the virtual debates between young people from MIAK Gyumri and Ashtarak offices.

Since now on the "Debate Club" will operate in MIAK Gyumri territorial subdivision office. The club will be mainly attended by Gyumri youth who will have chance to discuss many topics of concern there. The club will organize periodic debates with youth from other cities. There are numbers of topics covering various issues, such as "Death penalty cannot be justified even in case of the heaviest crimes",  "Is killing one person to save many morally acceptable?",  "What is the priority for the government: economic growth or environmental protection?", etc.

The "Debate Club" created lots of enthusiasm among the participants, after which it was decided to enlarge the scope of its activities spreading the concept beyond the Gyumri office. MIAK Ashtarak office welcomed the suggestion and participated in virtual debate organized via internet on August 15. The first issue put forward by Gyumri youth related to the fact of how much importance the government put on young people. Various opinions on the youth problems were expressed, after which a question raised by Ashtarak youth on what the Armenian society and Armenian family would gain from the gender equality was tackled. As a result of free and open conversation which instilled great enthusiasm in the participants, it was suggested to continue the communication in this format in the future. It should also be noted that Gyumri office organizes intellectual competitions and games, which encourage the development of political and ideological skills of MIAK members.

The events will be of continuous nature.
