Alexander of Macedon

Alexander III of Macedon (356-323 BC), popularly known as Alexander the Great , was a Greek king (basileus) of Macedon. He is the most celebrated member of the Argead Dynasty and created one of the largest empires in ancient history. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander received a classical Greek education under the tutorship of famed philosopher Aristotle, succeeded his father Philip II of Macedon to the throne in 336 BC after the King was assassinated, and died thirteen years later at the age of 32. Although both Alexander's reign and empire were short-lived, the cultural impact of his conquests lasted for centuries.

Twenty one years have passed since that winterday  of disaster but Armenian people have not forgottenthe innocent victims of the catastrophic earthquake of 1988.  On theeve of the anniversary  of the earthquake, that had shaken the world,theMIAK administration visited Gyumri to pay tribute to the memory of itsvictims.After putting flowers at the earthquake victims` memorial the membersof the MIAKsecretariat and other governing bodies together with the MIAK SecretaryGeneralwalked around Gyumri and became acquainted with the new buildings oftherevived and beautiful city, as well as talked to some of the  population.
