Haiti has been rocked with another
earthquake on January 20, 2010. It has been reported that a heavy
earthquake hit Haiti
today morning at 6 am. United States Geological Survey reported that it was
magnitude of 6.1 that shook Haiti
and spread fear across Haiti.
It has also been reported that the epicenter of this earthquake was 35 miles in
the south-western area of Port-au-Prince.
This recent earthquake occurred some 6.2 miles beneath the surface. January 20,
2010 is also a bad day for the poorest Caribbean nation of Haiti.
Haitians have been
experiencing continuous earthquakes; just eight days ago Haiti was
smashed down with a major quake which broke the record of two centuries. Since
that quake, rescue teams across the planet have been working for Haiti victims.
This latest quake which struck Haiti
has become the most terrible quake after that heavy quake of magnitude 7.3.
That quake blasted the capital of Haiti and it caused more than 1.5
million Haitians homeless and some 2 million Haitians lost their lives.
Seismologists of United
States Geological Survey informed that there are more than 132 quakes in Haiti with a
massive force from magnitude 6 to 6.9 in a year. Still we do not have any
latest news regarding casualties and injuries. However, it was reported that a
magnitude 6.1 quake shook the collapsed buildings. Officials have been
reporting that more life loss and damage is feared in the area.
Now rescuers would have to
raise more donations and more assistance from all the world organizations. Haiti is a poor
country and it has been standing on the targets of continuous quakes. Haiti needs
years to rebuild and world volunteers are here to serve this poor country. As
the human beings, we will have to donate more and more so that Haitians can
stand on their feet soon.
