On July 5th 1995, for the first time in Armenian history a national referendum was held to approve the Armenian Constitution.
As stated in the 1991 Armenian Declaration of Independence our society almost unanimously chose the path of a constitutional republic reaffirming the determination to continue the important process of establishing statehood and democracy.
At last, according to the Constitution, the Republic of Armenia was proclaimed a democratic, social, constitutional state and the functions of the three branches of power were clearly separated (legislative, executive, and judicial) and human rights and freedoms were stipulated by Armenian law.
The United Liberal National Party congratulates everybody on Constitution Day.
