In nine South African cities from June 11th to July 11th thirty two of the world’s strongest national teams will compete to decide the 19th winner of the FIFA World Cup Football Championship.
On the opening day the host team, South Africa, will play the national team of Mexico in Johannesburg. Later on the same day Uruguay and France will play in Cape Town.
Thirty two national teams from five continents participate in the Championship. In the first round the teams are divided into six groups of four teams.
As a result of these first games the best two teams from each group progress into the next round. The play off will start on June 26th. The quarter final meetings will be on July 2nd and 3rd, whilst the semi finals will be played on July 6th and 7th.
On July 10th the bronze medalist of the World Football Championship will be known and on July 11th after the final in Johannesburg we will have the name of the football world champions.
